Real Property Administrator® (RPA)

Invest in Success -- Earn the Real Property Administrator Designation

Enhance your reputation and increase your earning power by investing in a Real Property Administrator® (RPA) education.
  • An RPA® designation will be of value to you if you:
  • Manage a commercial building for a property management firm or developer.
  • Strive to maximize the net income of an owner's properties, while minimizing risks.
  • Represent the building owner in various professional transactions, including legal, architectural, and insurance.
  • Lease and market space.
Need to understand critical operational issues such as life cycle costing, preventive maintenance, and energy management.

The following courses give you credit for both the RPA® and FMA® designational programs:
  • The Design, Operation, and Maintenance of Building Systems, Part I
  • The Design, Operation, and Maintenance of Building Systems, Part II
  • Real Estate Investment and Finance
  • Environmental Health and Safety Issues
  • The Ethics Is Good Business Short Course
To earn the RPA® designation, you must complete these six mandatory courses plus the Ethics is Good Business® ShortCourse™:
  • The Design, Operation, and Maintenance of Building Systems, Part I
  • The Design, Operation, and Maintenance of Building Systems, Part II
  • Real Estate Investment and Finance
  • Environmental Health and Safety Issues
  • Budgeting and Accounting
  • Law and Risk Management
Plus, you must complete one other course, which you may select from these three electives:
  • Fundamentals of Real Property Administration
  • Leasing and Marketing for Property Managers
  • Asset Management
Experience
To earn the RPA® designation, you must show a minimum of three years of verifiable experience as a property manager. This experience must be performed for a portfolio or building 40,000 square feet or larger. Ethics
In addition to requiring Ethics Is Good Business®, the Institute has developed a strict Code of Professional Ethics and Conduct to increase the esteem of the designation and promote honesty as an integral part of an RPA's reputation. You will be asked to abide by this code.

Continuing Professional Development
To maintain active status of the RPA designation, 18 points of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credit must be earned every three years.
